CR4ZY beat AVANGAR to make DreamHack Open Rotterdam final

CR4ZY won two out of three maps played in the second DreamHack Open Rotterdam semi-final against AVANGAR and have secured a spot in the final where they will face off against HEROIC.

CR4ZY played a patient first round on the attack of Mirage as doubles by Otto "ottoNd" Sihvo and Luka "emi" Vuković got them on the board first. The European combine kept the pressure up as Ts, taking a 5-0 lead. AVANGAR finally managed to kick it into gear, winning six rounds in a row to take the lead and not let map one drift away. Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev and company were finally able to turn it around, going ahead 8-7.

CR4ZY took the lead back winning the first three rounds on the CT side, but AVANGAR were able to win the fourth, hurting emi’s side’s economy. Both teams had several rounds streaks, but it was finally CR4ZY, inspired by Rokas "EspiranTo" Milasauskas with 31 frags, who were able to win it 16-13.

CR4ZY move past AVANGAR to make the final in Rotterdam

AVANGAR kicked Dust2 off on the upper hand with a T-side pistol win, but a forcebuy from CR4ZY brought it quickly to a tie. Up 3-1, the European team were able to further increase their lead after winning a 3vs2 retake on B. CR4ZY had everything to make it 6-1, but EspiranTo failed to get a multi-kill on short and ottoNd missed a shot in which he could have taken out two rivals for AVANGAR to get another tally. The CIS side then quickly brought it back close as they exploited their rivals’ economic woes, eventually going on to take the side, 9-6.

AVANGAR defused an A plant to keep increasing their lead on the CT side, and despite losing against a forcebuy were then able to win one of their own. It looked like the Kazakh side would be able to put some ground between them and CR4ZY, but it was the European team that kept the pressure up on the attacking side, going on to take a 12-11 lead. They were unable to bring it to a close, however, as AVANGAR picked up the pace and turned it around, 16-14, to push the match to a decider.

AVANGAR were unable to win Inferno on the CT side

CR4ZY bagged the two first rounds defending on Inferno before a B strike from AVANGAR gave them their first round win as both teams kept it close early on in the map. Down 3-5, Nestor "LETN1" Tanić won a 1vs1 and defused a last-minute bomb to bring it within one. CR4ZY then went on to dominate the half, only giving away one more round, winning out 9-6.

Two quick entries by EspiranTo put CR4ZY ahead in the first pistol round, but a huge 1vs3 clutch by Alexey "Qikert" Golubev turned it around for AVANGAR prompting CR4ZY to call a timeout. Despite losing the following two rounds, the European team were quick to turn it around once proper buys were in play as the CIS side struggled to contain them. Down 9-14, AVANGAR were able to get one more before CR4ZY took match point. They were then able to follow it up the next round, 16-10.
